You not standing up during the National Anthem in cinemas can be fined or arrested

Starting from tomorrow onwards all cinemas across our nation will be playing the national anthem “Negaraku before the movie begins. Everyone are advised to stand up and show some respect or otherwise things might go wrong.

We had a “poll” placed up to find out how many would actually stand up during the national anthem being played and the results were pretty bad as almost 80% says “NO”. This Merdeka Week campaign will begin from tomorrow which is the 28th of August till the 3rd of September 2013.

According to Deputy Home Minister, Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaffar, for those who did not stand up or being disrespectful during the national anthem being played would, be fined not more than RM100 or imprisonment for not more than one month (National Anthem Act 1968). He also added for those who disrespect can be arrested without a warrant as what stipulated by Section 9.

Just for you guys information, there will be two patriotic short clips played before the movies begin from tomorrow onwards.
