Those who are earning below RM5K are set to receive a full subsidy through the government’s three-tiered fuel subsidy rationalisation programme. Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said that those who are earning between RM5,000 and RM10,000 will be receiving subsidies as well (partially).
High income earners would have to pay the market price of RON95 with low income earners set to benefit from the current subsidised rate until the rationalisation mechanism is implemented in June. This maybe involve the usage of MyKad or other cards and is currently being fine tuned by the Finance Ministry with the assistance of KPDNKK.
The recent announced of the 2015 Budget, RON97 would not be exempted from the Goods and Services Tax (GST) which is set to be implemented next year.
