Health Minister Suggests Government to increase Sugar price to avoid Diabetes

A little shocking to know that there are about 2.6 Million people in Malaysia having diabetes. That’s about 15% of the total population here. But is increasing the price of sugar the solution?

According to Ministry of Health’s Datuk Seri Dr. S. Subramaniam, the disease is going “viral” in Malaysia due to the uncontrolled amount of sugar used in their food and drinks which action must be taken and that’s by increasing the price. He also added that restaurants and stalls are advised to place the sugars separately on the tables instead of tossing it in the drinks. This is to ensure that customers have a choice whether or not to consume it.

It is good to know that the government is paying close attention to us but sugar is a need. If prices are increased, we are still going to consume it in our daily lives similar to the petrol and diesel. What you guys think?
