If you are planning to buy a Honda after GST is implemented, you are going to be a happy person as Honda is the first car maker to clear the air today by announcing that locally assembled models will be RM500 to RM2,500 cheaper after the goods and services tax (GST) is enforced from Wednesday (1st April).
The Honda car models that is going to be assembled in Malaysia includes, Jazz, City, Civic, CR-V, Accord and HR-V.
But fully imported models will be priced slightly higher. For example, the Odyssey will see a price increase of between RM500 and RM1,000.
Honda has also announced that, all their spare parts will be on average be 3.7% lower for all models. However, labour costs will see a hike with the addition of the GST. Looking at the bigger picture however, overall maintenance costs in view of the cheaper replacement parts, will be down 2% to 4%, depending on model.
