1. Leopard 2A7+ (Germany)
The Leopard 2A7 is protected against urban warfare threats such as RPG rounds and IEDs.
This tank has better accuracy in terms of long range of fire.
It is powered with a 1,500 hp engine. It also has powerful gun and advanced fire control systems
Saudi Arabia has recently ordered 200 of these tanks.
2. Abrams M1A2 (United States of America)
This tank has incredible technology and armor. It is one of the most feared MBTs (Main Battle Tank) in combat.
It is protected against all well-known anti-tank weapons. It’s armor is reinforced with depleted uranium layers.
This tank’s weapon is slightly inferior compared to the Leapard 2A7.
United States has over 1,500 of these tanks where else Kuwait has 218 and Saudi Arabia has 373 of the Abrams M1A2 tanks.
3. K2 Black Panther (South Korea)
Currently the most advanced main battle tank in the world outclassing anything from North Korea or China have.
The most expensive main battle tank to date.
This tank has composite armor of undisclosed type of explosive reactive armor modules. The K2 is much light than the American’s and Germany’s tanks.
It is equiped with the latest German 120-mm gun which similar to the Leopard 2A7.
This thank has very advanced fire control system that can track and fire automatically visible vehicle size targets, even low flying helicopters whitout needing any input from a human operator.
4. Challenger 2 (United Kingdom)
The Challenger 2 has a latest Chobham armor and it is one of the most protected MBTs in the world today.
It has a maximum range over 5Km.
The Challenger holds the record for the longest tank to tank kill.
On the other hand the Challenger 2 is powerful compared to it’s Western rivals. It is famous for it’s mechanical reliability.
United Kingdom has 386 of this tanks and Oman has about 38.
5. Merkava MK 4 (Israel)
This tank has an unusual design which gives the crew additional protection and chance to survive if the tank is knocked-out.
It can carry up to 10 troops when ammunition is unloaded.
It has advanced firing features where it can high hit probability firing against low flying helicopters.
The Merkawa MK 4 is in service in Israel and this tank is not offered for export.
6. TK-X (Japan)
This tank is the new lightweight MBT. It is more agile however it is less protected compared to other tanks.
It’s 120-mm gun is similar to that of the Leopard 2A5 and M1A2 Abrams. It also has advanced fire control system.
This tank has great mobility due to its weight, Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)and state of the art hydro pneumatic suspensions.
This tank is also not available for exports as Japan’s laws do not allow export military equipment.
7. Leclerc (France)
It has advanced composite armor with add-on modular armor.
This tank can fit 3 crew and it is fitted with an autoloader. It has high hit probability against stationary and moving targets.
This tank is currently in service with France and also in the United Arab Emirates.
8. T-90 (Russia)
This tank is currently the only tank produced in quantity in Russia.
It is not as sophisticated compared to other thanks but it has proven technology and is cost effective. It is one of the most cheapest MBTs in this modern era.
This tank is not as accurate against long range targets but it can launch anti tank guided missiles in the same manner as ordinary munitions.
The T-90 is currently in service in Russia (700 units), Algeria (305), Azerbaijan (20), India (620), Turkmenistan (40) and Venezuela (100)
9. Oplot-M (Ukraine)
The Oplot-M is fitted with explosive reactive armor.
This tank is not as accurate against long-range targets as Western rivals has produced.
10. Type 99 (China)
This MBT has the capability to launch anti tank guided missiles in the same manners as ordinary munitions.
This tank also lacks accuracy against long range targets, but it has automatic loading system.
It has great mobility but not as superior at the Western rivals.
