The Homeless in Kuala Lumpur Deserves More Attention Than Anything Else

HOMELESS / GENELENDANGAN

Homeless or “kutu rayau” is defined as a person who do not have a permanent residence. In 2011, there were 1328 homeless citizens in Kuala Lumpur and 40 percent of them have a permanent job earning not more than RM1,000, however, they are living in poverty as the cost of living is very high.

It became very difficult for them living with a low income until they can’t even rent a room or a house. So, they decided to sleep on the sidewalk around Kota Raya, Menara Maybank, Chow Kit, Masjid India and as well as under the bridge nearby KL KTM Station.
