The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale Survival Guide

1. BE CASUAL

It is not advisable to go in killer heels. Those boots are definitely not made for walking. Wear light, loose, comfortable clothing and shoes. Be prepared to see some weight loss after the sale.

2. BE PREPARED

When the sun goes down, so does the temperature. The air conditioning might be a little chilly during the night. Bring a scarf with you or just enough toilet rolls to mummify yourself.

3. TAKE A BREAK

If your eyes are closing, stomach growling or you’re tired of your children screaming, head upstairs for a break. Grab a cup of coffee, a meal and conveniently drop your children off at the play area but be sure to keep your unpaid books at the customer storage area before heading upstairs because nobody likes coffee stains and aroma of the delicious food on the books.

4. EASE YOUR BURDEN

After piling up your pyramid of books, avoid being in a bumper car situation by dragging boxes and luggage bags everywhere. Store your unpaid books at the customer storage area for up to 24 hours! If unclaimed, the Wolf Pack will return them to the tables after the 24 hours duration.

5. BYO (BRING YOUR OWN)

BBW trolleys will be available at the entrance. However, it would be easier for you to bring your own luggage bag to avoid taking someone else’s trolley by mistake. This would also save the hassle of you having to carry them with plastic bags after purchasing.

6. BE REWARDED! GO GREEN!

Did you know that there is a small discount for every customer who saves on plastic bags this year? Time to show off your bling bling luggage bag or customized shopping bags!

7. AVOID THE JAM

The sales will be 24 hours! Why go over when everyone else is heading there too? Here’s a big hint: there is a smaller crowd at 1am-7am on weekdays and 4am-9am on weekends. Be sure to down a shot of espresso before heading there.

8. LOOK UP & AROUND

The place is HUGE. It is best if you have a strategy with you to go through the whole hall. The hall is divided in various categories. Large signages around the hall make it easier for you to navigate your way. Select a designated corner and time as a gathering point if any of your friends or family get lost. That would save a lot of panic in case of a cellular network break down and also money on phone calls. Otherwise, you could always ask them to send a selfie with their back view and locate them. Make some friends by asking people around you if they saw your lost sheep. Who knows? Maybe that person could be a celebrity!

9. KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN

There is no specific list of books at the sale, so it will be quite impossible for the Wolf Pack to locate a certain book for you. Search for the book covers online beforehand, save it in your phone, make it your wallpaper and memorize every inch of it! You will definitely get to see them from afar!

10. TAKE MEDICAL LEAVE

Have to work over the weekend? TAKE MC! Spare a lot of your time for the fair. This is the LARGEST book sale in the world. It is impossible to finish the fair in an hour. Boss being mean about your MC? Bring him along! He will definitely thank you for it and perhaps automatically give you a day off for the following BBW to come.

11. DON’T BE AN AISLE HOGGER

Why sit or even sleep on the aisle when there is a comfortable area where you can sort your books? Ask the Wolf Pack for directions. But please, don’t bring your sleeping bag with you.

12. BACK TO BUSINESS

Need the loo badly? Take a picture on your phone of the pile of books on the table where you stopped with the background in sight. The Wolf Pack will not be moving the entire table away so you’re safe to go.

13. FREEBIES ALERT

No need to keep asking for free gifts. Vouchers are available for collection at the redemption counter for every RM200 spent!!! Buy more, GET MORE!

14. DISCOUNTS! DISCOUNTS!!!

5% off on nett value for all Hong Leong Credit/Debit cards users. Top it up with all your savings! If you don’t have one, grab it from a friend! You’ll be thankful to have one in hand!

15. STAY TUNED

Many events are being held throughout the sale. Keep stalking the Wolf on their Facebook page so you don’t miss out on any of the fun activities!
