Just a week ago the Malaysian government has agreed on imposing a vehicle entry permit (VEP) fee on Singaporean vehicles that enters Malaysia through Johor.
Well, the folks at Kedah think that it was a good decision by doing so and they have decided to impose an entry fee for the foreign vehicles entering from Thailand via the Sadao checkpoint. According to the State Education, Transportation and Works Committee chairman, Datuk Tajul Urus Mat Zain, this decision is made to easily identify and penalize foreign motorist who violates traffic rules in Malaysia.
However, at the moment the fee rates have not been officially announced. Tajul Urus said that they are currently in the middle of discussion with relevant agencies including JPJ and the police to come up with the final figures.
