The MIC Youth Scholarship progamme is offering a scholarship worth RM16.8 million for 1500 eligible students who are seeking to pursue higher education in academics and skilled subjects.

MIC President Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said, since the programme was first introduced in 2012, this year’s amount marks the highest ever offered for the Indian youth community. He said, from the RM16.8 million offered, RM1.8 million has been allocated especially for Skill Training Scholarship. “The scholarship is divided into three groups namely full, partial and special student discount scholarships for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia and Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia students from less fortunate families. “This is also part of the transformation programme among the Indian community in the country to ensure they are able to pursue tertiary education. “We also want to provide opportunities for those who are qualified to continue their studies, especially those facing financial difficulties,” he said after the programme launch, today.

He said the scope of study for this scholarship is selected based on 11 national major industries under the National Key Economic Areas. The scholarship is in collaboration with courses carried out in universities and colleges.
