Previously there were three different variants that you can choose from with the Proton Suprima S and they are the Executive, Premium and as well as Super Premium. Now there will be a new variant added to the line-up and its known as the Suprima S Standard.
This new model is fitted with the same CamPro 1.6 Turbo engine that produces about 138 horsepower and 205 Nm of torque between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm. Compared to the other three variants, its pretty obvious that there isn’t any changes in terms of performance for the Standard version.
In fact, this model is very similar to the Executive version just that the Standard lacks the engine cover, front fog lamps and LED headlamps. Other cosmetic changes include the omission of black tape for the B-pillar and door sashes, a move to a Panther Grey finish for the center panel as well as a minor revision to the floor console design whereby the rear lid has been removed.
On top of that, the Suprima S Standard gets a 16-inch alloys which is similar to what the Preve rides on and the Android based Proton Infotainment System has been replaced by a two-DIN single CD/radio head-unit.
In terms of safety equipment, this new version only gets dual front airbags, ISOFIX and ABS with EBD. Other safety features found on the Executive like the traction control, brake assist, hill-hold assist and side curtain airbags have been removed from the Standard model. In other words, this variant will not be five-star ANCAP-rated like the Executive, Premium and Super Premium.
Sounds like there are lot of things missing from this Suprima S Standard and we are pretty sure its not as convincing as the other range. But the good news is that it will only cost you RM69,438 for the solid colored version and RM69,888 for the metallic version.
Speaking of colors, there will be five colors to choose from and they are the Genetic Silver, Tranquility Black, Solid White, Atlantic Blue and Fire Red.
