PETALING JAYA: An accident involving three cars along Jalan Kuching has caused a massive traffic jam around the area Thursday morning.
The congestion worsened as police were forced to close the road to traffic and motorists slowing down, while some stopping by the road, to look at what was happening. The accident also caused office workers to report late for work.
Police have also dismissed a rumour that a flyover had collapsed at Jalan Kuching which caused a massive traffic jam.
“There is no collapsed flyover,” said an irate city traffic chief Asst Comm Mohd Nadzri Hussain.
The accident, involving a car, a van and three motorcycles, caused the van to catch fire. There was no fatality and the injured, all minor, were sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
“I don’t understand how an accident can lead to rumours of a collapsed flyover.
“It was an accident, Even the fire was put out soon after it started,” ACP Mohd Nadzri said when contacted.
Initial investigations showed that the car was heading towards Kepong on Jalan Kuching when it suddenly swerved into the opposite direction.
“The car hit the van and spun. The three motorcycles rammed into the back of the van, causing it to catch fire.
“Firemen managed to put out the fire fast,” he said adding that the driver of the van and two motorcyclists were sent to HKL for treatment.
