Pakatan Rakyat’s Kelana Jaya and Alor Setar MP, Wong Chen and Gooi Hsiao, recently exposed the Malaysian government’s expenditure on private consulting firms.
According to the report from 2009 to 2013, the gov had spend a whopping RM7.2 Billion which is equivalent to RM125 Million on monthly basis and RM4 Million on daily basis. Both Wong Chen and Gooi Hsiao stated that this private consulting expenditure has increased at an average of 13.5% every year, which is double the growth rate our annual GDP (Gross Domestic Product).
Wong also added that this situation reflects Barisan’s leadership whereby they have lack of faith on civil service which results to seeking for private consultants.
Both PKR MPs are urging all ministers to reveal their spendings on private consultants or otherwise they will pressure individual ministers to disclose all information during question time in parliament.
