No “Fifty Shades of Grey” in Malaysia

50 shades of grey no in cinema
We are pretty sure there are many Malaysian fans who have been waiting for the new movie called the “Fifty Shades of Grey” to heat up the screens. Well, its not going to happen.
A few weeks back the local distributor (United International Pictures) announced that the movie will be released on the 12th of February 2015, however, they recently confirmed that it is not coming to Malaysia. This is mainly due to the risqué elements which contains in the movie.
According to Cinema Online Malaysia, the Fifty Shades of Grey received an R rating from the Motion Pictures Association of American (MPAA) last month which is not as restrictive compared to the recent 18 rating from the British Board of Film Classification.
In other words, those under the age of 18 will still be able to watch the movie in North Americans cinema provided they are accompanied by adults. In the UK on the other hand, only those above the age 18 will get to watch the movie in the cinema. In Malaysia….no one regardless the age will be able to watch it on the big screen.
