An explosion possibly caused by has gas cylinders at the Chili’s restaurant at Mid Valley shopping centre at 10am today.
The external roofing outside of Chili’s restaurant collapsed as well as the ceiling of the kitchen at fast food restaurant McDonald’s on the lower ground floor.
Eight people were injured due to the explosion, three of the victims suffered burns while the rest had light injuries.
It was also reported that the Fire and Rescue department confirmed that there was a gas leak from a stove.
“Investigations are underway to determine if the ceiling collapse was caused by gas cylinders explosions,” said a spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department.
Mid Valley Megamall said those injured were its maintenance staff, LPG contractor and tenant staff, and that there were no injuries to the public.
