Dato’ Lee Chong Wei B sample tests positive for dope

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s badminton world No.1 Dato’ Lee Chong Wei’s B sample has tested positive for dexamethansone.
Dexamethasone is used to treat conditions such as arthritis, blood/hormone/immune system disorders, allergic reactions, certain skin and eye conditions, breathing problems, certain bowel disorders, and certain cancers. It is also used as a test for an adrenal gland disorder.
The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has made an official announcement at 2pm at BAM’s headquaters in Bukit Kiara. Dato’ Lee Chong Wei went through a random dope test during the World Championships in Copenhagen on August 30 and witnessed the seal of his B sample being opened at Oslo on Nov 5. He would face a two year ban but he will be given a chance for a hearing with the Badmintion World Federation (BWF).
