PETALING JAYA, Sept 22: British American Tobacco Malaysia (BAT Malaysia) today has announced that the prices of its cigarette brands will be revised back to their original pricing before the price hike. Dunhill will be back RM12 onwards today.
‘’Our last price increase was to alleviate mounting inflationary cost pressure amplified by progressive loss of legal domestic volumes over the years to illegal trade, decline in contract manufacturing volume and an overall very competitive trade and distribution channels, ‘’ said managing director Stefano Clini in a statement.
He quote, ‘’ However in order to remain competitive, we have decided to revert to our prices before Sept 8.’’
BAT Malaysia’s brands such as Dunhill, Kent and Benson & Hedges are now back to RM12 while Peter Stuyvesant and Pall Mall packs are priced at RM10.50. Lucky Strike Plan and Rothmans International cigarette packs are prices at RM12.50 each.
JT International Bhd (JTI) which sells brands Mevius, Winston, Salem and Camel in Malaysia will also revert the price back to the original price before Sept 12. Mevius is sold back at RM12.
Philip Morris International Inc (PMI) who sells Malboro, Sampoerna and L&M still has not increased their since the increase of cigarette prices of all three major tobacco manufactures, will still remain its price.
