Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Mohd Zaini Che Din clarified during a press conference that there was no bag found, and that the evacuation was caused by a reported bomb sighting that was made to the university in a phone call around 10am.

“They got a call from someone speaking in English. He (the caller) said he saw some Iranian guy putting a bomb in one of the toilets,” he told reporters.

Mohd Zaini said that after being notified by the university, the police proceeded to evacuate the campus with over 2,000 students to conduct a full search of the premises.

“We had to evacuate and check because don’t know what toilet the bomb is in,” he explained.

Segi College Kota Damansara reopened at about 2pm and students have re-entered, but police presence remained heavy as investigations are still on going.

The police also took down statements from some of the employees including the staff who received the information.

Mohd Zaini also said the they will interview foreign students there over the threat, but said this was a matter of procedure and not to typecast any group.
