The latest seven seater SUV by the German automaker is now here in Malaysia and it certainly looks stunning in every way and it also comes with a cheaper price tag compared to the last year’s GL 500.
Speaking about price, this new Mercedes Benz GL 400 is priced at RM842,888 on the road without insurance which is RM70,000 cheaper compared to GL 500. Of course when it comes to something cheaper, there will be something lacking. In this case, this machine gets a 3.0 liter twin turbo V6 engine instead of the 4.6 liter twin turbo V8. It may not sound that convincing but the 3.0 liter engine which is paired with a 7G-Tronic gearbox produces a solid 333 horsepower and 480 Nm of torque.
In terms of equipment, the GL 400 gets 21 inch AMG wheels that matches its AMG bodykit, panoramic sunroof, surround view camera system, Distronic Plus active cruise control, Intelligent Light System headlamps, soft closing doors, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, rear seat entertainment system, electric folding for the third row of seats, four zone air conditioning and as well as Active Parking Assist.
Other than the replacement of the smaller engine, Mercedes also replaced the sound system from the higher end Bang & Olufsen BeoSound AMG to the not so expensive Harmon Kardon Logic7 system. Well, this wouldn’t be a problem unless you are really particular about your sound systems.
