The good news here is the businessman, Lee Siew Meng, 42, survived the robbery and is now being treated in Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan.
According to Pahang’s Deputy police chief Commissioner, Datuk Jamaluddin Abdul Majid, the victim was checking into a hotel nearby Jalan Air Putih at about 4.20am all alone. While doing so, two men approached Lee Siew Meng and started questioning him. Before able to answer the robbers question, the robbers quickly slashed him on the head and fired 2 shots at his shoulder and left rib.
DCP Jamaluddin added that this whole motive of the four men was to carjack Lee’s Peugeot 308 as they left his wallet behind that contains RM988.
There was another attempt to carjack a car few weeks ago which happened in Jalan Haji Ahmad in Kuantan as well. This incident is still under investigation and according to DCP Jamaluddin, it might be linked.
