820K Malaysians Barred from leaving the country


More than 820,000 Malaysians are barred from leaving the country after being blacklisted for various offences including loan PTPTN loan defaulters, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Malaysians who are blacklisted are  prohibited from leaving Malaysia unless they are given special permission to do so.

“Those that are blacklisted are prohibited from leaving the country unless they obtain approval from the authorities relevant to their offences,” Dr. Ahmad Zahid said in a written reply to Er Teck Hwa (DAP – Bakri).

How to check if you are on the travel blacklist

1. Visit http://sspi2.imi.gov.my/
2. Enter your IC number in the text field.
3. Click the “Semak” (Check) button.
 4. View your status.
If you are not barred from leaving the country, the status will appear as “Tiada Halangan” (No restriction).
