KUALA LUMPUR: Yesterday, a biker was burnt to death while another biker was killed after being hit by a car in a horrific accident at Karak Highway. The incident occured around 11.20am yesterday.
Fire engine and seven firemen were dispatched to the scene but when they arrive, they found that one of the motorcycles had caught on fire with the rider still pinned beneath the machine. Another driver was pinned under a Honda City.
The accident also caused a 7KM stretched jam where the traffic was near standstill. According to the Federal traffic police chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Mohd Fuad Abdul Latiff said that the accident occurred when the two motorcyclist stopped in the centre lane because a lorry was blocking the road.“Another motorcycle then hit the two motorcyclists before catching fire, with one of the big bikers pinned under the burning machine.
“Then, another motorcycle, believed to be riding at high speed, grazed a Toyota Camry and Toyota Vios before the rider was flung off his machine and under a Honda City, which had stopped in the emergency lane to avoid the fire,” he said yesterday.
Both of the riders died at the scene. The burnt to death victim was identified as Zali Khalid and the other rider who was pinned down by the Honda City has been identified as Md Nizam Hanapiah. The other who riders that was in the initial collision were sent to Selayang Hospital with severe injuries.
He said the rider who was pinned under the burning machine and the one who was flung under the car both died at the scene. Three other cars were also involved in the accident while trying to avoid the crash (Proton Exora, Perodua Myvi and Perodua Alza).
The public also played an important role during the accident as they help to put out the fire before the firemen could get to the scene.
