KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 15 — A group of Mat Rempit killed a 19 year old teen after hitting him on the head with a fork lock for refusing to hand over his mobile phone.
The group Mat Rempit (20 of them) was roaming the streets of Gombak on Thursday night looking for targets. Khairul Idzham was not the initial target of the 20 Mat rempit.
City CID chief ACP Khairi Ahrasa said the teen suspects had first wanted to rob two African men who were walking near SRJK© Lee Rubber in Jalan Gombak.
“The Africans ran off towards a shop. The suspects then turned towards Khairul and his five friends who were hanging out near Taman Tasik Seri Gombak at 11.30pm.”
The suspects with machetes, fork locks and motorcycle chains demanded Khairul and his friends to surrender their mobile phones but Khairul never gave in to their demands. All his other friends handed over the phones to them.
One of the suspects then hit him with the fork lock and pushed him into the lake. The suspects later fled after they realised that Khairul had drowned. Fire and Rescue Department and policepersonnels later recovered Khairul’s body at 1.30 am.
Police had arrested seven teenagers aged between 15 and 18 so far and they are still looking for another seven suspects.
