Being one of the early pioneers of café aficionado in Subang Jaya, this famous outlet has been maturing as it strives to serve their customers better. A very casual affair with jazzy music and coffee aroma, this small and cozy cafe designed their menu which includes daily fresh desserts and cakes, searing pasta dishes and all day brunch menu. Being the ‘son’ café to the ‘mom’ food outlet Bawang Merah just below it, it started as a family venture business with a simple name of the shop being right ‘upstairs’. United by a group of charming and talented young chefs, Upstair’s Café continuously live up to their standards by consistently serving serious coffee and good quality food.

Started out as a Japanese bar and lounge within the same neighborhood, they change their business game to focus on coffee drinkers who still seek for that stylish get up to hang out w peers at a more relaxed atmosphere. And yes they still serve alcohol, better yet, alcohol with coffee! Check out their Signature drinks infused with Kahlua or Bailey’s, both known for their coffee and chocolate stimulation. They have an extensive food menu too that ranges from savoury and tasty pasta and main dishes to hot served waffles and sweet cakes. As the name of the shop suggest, the walls are featured with quirky book shelves and colourful soft interior and pale coloured wood which still brings a lounge/bar vibe. The brand has been expanding and opening new outlets in other remote part of Malaysia such as Kuantan and Kuching. The plus point here is that it is the only café in Subang Jaya that operates as early as 7.30 a.m!

Set up in a once less occupied area of SS 15, the backstreet look of this pop-art interior designed coffee shop depicts lower-budget spending crowd. Famous among young and hip crowd pleasers, this hot spot quickly became the talk of the town and filled with hungry students from nearby colleges who are always keen to have pancakes! Their menu consists of outsourced desserts and cakes, breakfast, limited pasta and main dishes and not to forget their specialty sweet and savoury pancake inventions. They recently expanded into a different location which is in Shah Alam as they feel the need to satisfy the high demand of crowd. Magnets big groups of shisha smokers to take their time off late at night.

Situated right opposite of reputable Murni Discovery in USJ 9, you cannot miss this outlet. The eccentric bubble lights filling the ceiling space of the café grabs attention especially at night. Interior is anchored with big wooden tables and cozy couches; it’s great for group catch up sessions or meetings, family dinner and ‘alone anti-social’ time. Quick bistro food such as all day breakfast, burgers, pastas and munchies fills up the menu which already includes a line of chocolaty desserts and their well-known churros all at a very reasonable price. Whisk Espresso Bar and Bake is a forerunner by a humble family back in 2011 with the first outlet in Empire Shopping Gallery, Subang Jaya and second outlet in One Utama Shopping Mall. A constricted space with scribbles drawn on brick walls and windows, petit steel furniture and very dim lighting, puts you through a European café feel. The passion for honest coffee and dainty sweets inspired them to share their love to all. The shop’s concept is very minimal by only serving cakes and bake goods to complement their beverage menu. Little did we know, they take cake orders for anyone who wishes to take away whole cakes. Other than their famous cakes, the café serves Last Polka artisan made ice creams, The Tapping Tapir all-natural flavoured sodas and home-baked pies. The café have successfully created a pool of regulars from the neighborhood and the shopping mall patrons to keep coming back for high quality coffee.

Located at a second floor, this outlet run by young siblings with supportive barista friends, focuses on minimalism and simplicity. Winner of Latter Art Throwdown 2015 (hosted by 103 Coffee Workshop), their coffee is true and sophisticated. The usual coffee menu is found and they also offer bottled juices by This Juice Co. Ver y limited cakes and desserts in the display area. Excitingly, a current collaboration with Ken’s Foodtruck, they are now serving delicious bistro food (like finally!). On special occasions, they take requests for events and gigs in their outlet. The high ceiling to florr windows, monochromatic colour palate and single seats cater for ‘alone-time’ when you need to rush last minute assignment/work!

The inside is designed with walls featuring wood designs and gold embellishments. Having over 10 varieties of cakes, pies, doughnuts and desserts each day, this bake shop also serve café food such as pastas and sandwhiches, churros and weekend breakfast. The old fashion-inspired café has a wide line of menu and exclusive tea selections from Kimya Shai, ice-cream pops from popsMalaya and healthy packed meals from The Lunch Club Asia.
